Oxygen is a clear, colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas that dissolves in water. It is the second largest component of the atmosphere, comprising 20.8% by volume. It will react with nearly all organic materials and metals. Oxygen is produced by an air separation unit (ASU) through the liquefaction of atmospheric air and separation of the oxygen by continuous cryogenic istillation. It is used in the smelting of copper, lead, antimony and zinc.Worldwide oxygen concentrator markets at $349 million in 2005 are anticipated to reach $1.2 billion by 2011.
