From Innovation to Commercialization and Beyond - Mandy Haberman

From Innovation to Commercialization and Beyond - Mandy Haberman: "From Innovation to Commercialization and Beyond - Mandy Haberman
Inspired by her own child suffering from Stickler’s syndrome, graphic designer Mandy Haberman designed a feeder for babies with sucking difficulties. The Haberman feeder was patented in the UK in 1984 and Mandy Haberman initially set up her own company to commercialize the product worldwide before granting manufacturing and distribution licenses. The product’s success was significant, though the nature of the product limited its distribution to a very narrow market.
A few years later, Mandy Haberman, inspired this time by a friend’s child spilling blackcurrent juice over a cream coloured carpet, decided to set out to design a leak-proof cup that seals between sips and created the Anywayup® cup. In 1992, the first of many patents was filed (patent no. GB-B-2266045). The patent protected her idea that uses a slit valve to control the flow of liquid through the spout of trainer cup. Additional patents both for the UK and overseas were later filed and granted."

Startup Professionals Musings: MBA: Blessing or Not for an Entrepreneur?: "when an MBA really helps an entrepreneur:
If you are already an entrepreneur, more education, including an MBA, will only slow you down. Consider it a waste of time.
If you plan to become an entrepreneur, and already have business experience or an undergraduate Business degree, skip the time and cost of the MBA.
If you have a technical career with no business background, and you want to start your own business, an MBA can be a blessing by giving you the basic knowledge you need to manage your business."

Business Today - India's leading business magazine: "Indian banks’ finest hour?

The KPMG Annual Best Banks Survey is a check-point on the performance of the banking system in India. The past five years have seen the Indian banking industry gain significant strength. This strength is reflected in the high growth in credit and size of the balance sheets; well diversified portfolios across corporate, retail and SME; improved margins and spreads; healthy asset quality; reduction in non-performing assets with improving asset coverage ratio; and improvement in the implementation of the SARFAESI Act through effective use of debt recovery tribunals.
Not surprisingly, PSU banks, with low-risk appetites and being conservative followers of regulatory guidelines, have significantly improved their position.
