carrot seed oil
The shortage of carrot seed oil and the potential to cultivate wild carrots provide exporters with opportunities to produce this oil. The oil is produced from wild-collected carrot seed and is in limited supply, demand currently exceeding available supplies. The main barrier for entering the market is securing sufficient supplies of the raw material. Although the plant grows in different regions in the world, collection of its seeds for oil production is labor-intensive.

Trade in Linseeds
Linseed or flaxseed is the seed from the flax plant (Linum usitatissimum), a member of the Linaceae family. The thin yellow or brown seed is one of the oldest cultivated crops, originating from Mediterranean and Western Asia. The seeds are mainly grown in regions with lower winter temperatures and processed for their nutritional value and high content of fibre and oil. Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Argentina and Canada are some of the largest global producers of linseed.
European imports of linseeds have been increasing, following a decline in 2013. In 2016, linseed imports to Europe amounted to 947 thousand tonnes (€ 410 million). The last 5 years show an annual volume increase of +3.0%, while the value of imports remained stable due to a strong price decrease in recent years

Paprika oleoresin
Paprika oleoresin is an oil soluble extract from the fruits of Capsicum annum Linn or Capsicum frutescens (Indian red chillies), which is primarily used as a colouring and/or flavouring in food products. Paprika oleoresin is famous for its colouring properties, due to the content of carotenoid pigments, mainly capsanthin and capsorubin. Foods that are coloured with paprika oleoresin include cheese, orange juice, spice mixtures, sauces, sweets, and emulsified processed meats. Paprika oleoresin also contains capsaicin, which is the main flavouring compound that gives a pungent taste in higher concentrations.
Increased demand for colouring foodstuffs is one of the drivers behind the increase in demand for paprika oleoresin
Most European demand for paprika oleoresin is estimated to be met by imports. Globally, an estimated 7-8 thousand tonnes of paprika oleoresin are produced annually. India, Spain, China and Peru are among the major suppliers of oleoresin to Europe

Fair Trade Coffee Infographic
Europe is a large coffee market, accounting for around 30% of the global consumption. While consumption is expected to stabilise in the long term, Europe will remain an attractive market. But it is also a saturated market, dominated by large producing countries Brazil and Vietnam. Together these countries account for half of Europe’s imports of green coffee. Smaller players find increasing opportunities on the speciality market. In this segment you can compete on quality and long-term relationships, rather than on price.
