Dextrin


  • A low-molecular weight carbohydrates degradation product made from starch manufactured by a process called pyrolysis.
  • Dextrin are characterized by its solubility in water, viscosity, color, pH, moisture, reducing sugar value, molecular weight distribution.
  • Synonyms of Dextrin are Starch Gum, Artificial Gum, Tapioca and British Gum.
  • As a diluting agent for pills and capsules, as well as a thickener in creams and foam stabilizer in beer. It can also be used in baked goods, candy, gravies, pie fillings, poultry, puddings, and soups.
