Organo Phosphonates
- Phosphonates are anthropogenic complexing agents containing one or more C–PO(OH)2 groups.
-
Phosphonates are molecules with a characteristic C–PO3H2 group.
-
They are used in numerous technical and industrial applications as chelating agents and scale inhibitors.
-
Phosphonates are similar to phosphates except that they have a carbon–phosphorous (C–P) bonding place of the carbon–oxygen phosphorous (C–O–P) linkage.
